I know next to nothing about gardening. To be honest, digging in the dirt with worms and bugs is not my cup of tea but once we got started, it went a lot better than anticipated!
My boyfriend and I always buy herbs from the grocery store for our meals; they sell for about $3 per bunch. We were so sick of buying them and having them go bad 2 days later so we thought about starting our own garden to save us the hassle. Like I said, gardening is definitely not my specialty but surprisingly, it was so therapeutic and somewhat rewarding!

First of all, my boyfriend and I went to Bunnings (the Aussie equivalent of Home Depot) and got little pots for the seeds to be planted, some soil, a watering can, and some weed killing solution. Around our patio we have a little patch of dirt so we cut down the overgrown plants and started from scratch. We took out the weeds, laid fresh soil, and planted our pots with the seeds. We have rosemary, parsley, mint, basil, sage, oregano, thyme, coriander, and tomatoes and chilli peppers! After being so satisfied with all the herbs and veggies, I went above and beyond and planted some flowers just because! So now we have some Australian wildflowers and sunflowers spread through the garden as well! I'm so into the process now, I can't wait until they all start to sprout and we can actually use our own herbs and enjoy our scenery! It is so fun starting something new together and feeling so rewarded for our hard work. Our patio and garden setting will soon be the place to be for summer! Meanwhile, I'm facing my fears and coping with the bugs! Anyway, better go water the garden!
