For their annual "Christmas party", my boyfriends family business went camping this year so we were lucky enough to head out to Belmont Pines Lakeside Holiday Park. In the past, camping has always been a trip with friends full of shenanigans and non-stop craziness. However, this trip was a little more civilized - we had real meals, proper equipment, and a true outdoors experience.
It was a quick two night trip so we took full advantage of lounging around. After setting up in the 40 degree heat, we brought our chairs lakeside, took out some fishing line and parked for the night with a glass of wine. Unfortunately we didn't catch any real fish but a couple humans aimlessly walked into my cast so that counts as a success right?
Saturday brought the wind but the boys were determined to make it out for a competitive fishing session that afternoon so us girls actively got up and hiked 7km. Returning to the site in the afternoon after running some errands, we poured a refreshing glass of bubbly celebrating our hard work and friendly weekend getaway. Dinner that night brought a beef and ham roast to promote the Christmas environment and my future in-laws even handed out wrapped gifts and poppers. Although the weather was unpredictable that day, we made the most of our weekend and roughed it for the night. Making it through a stormy night was more relaxing than anticipated; cuddling up to the bf in the rain, on the ground, in a tent is definitely the most real you can get. I liked it.
Unfortunately, Sunday morning sun rose too quick and it marked the end of our weekend adventure. With everybody slowly dissipating, we were the last ones to leave the resort but not before getting breaky all together for one last hurrah. Eventually we moped back home to unpack and prepare for the week ahead. Oh Monday. Xx
